Planet Cruise launches its Irish website
Iglu is named in City A.M’s fastest 100 growing companies in the UK
Planet Cruise launches its French, Spanish and Italian sites- world domination begins!
First cruise show
Iglu host their first separate cruise and ski shows and we also win the Work Advisor Travel Employer of the Year Award (2015).
Iglu.com buys Planet Cruise rocketing our employees up to 224. This same year we became the UK's largest cruise agent!
Our turnover is now £90 million and our employees grow to 145
We made our first million in profit this year and start selling cruises!
Iglu dabbles with various other holiday types such as Disneyland Paris, Lapland, Villas, Tropical holidays, Hotel Holidays & Canada.
Simone Clark joins Iglu and our employees grow to 109. This same year we make £22.1m in sales!
Iglu acquired a first round of investment of £3.1 million from GeoCapital Partners in 1999 and other investors upping our employees to a total of 27 in 1999.
Our CEO Richard Downs founded Iglu at the height of the internet boom in 1998 and consisted of just 20 employees!

Established in 1998, we are the UK and Europe’s largest specialist ski and cruise travel agency, trading through Igluski.com, Iglucruise.com and Planetcruise.co.uk.
Awards: In 2021 we won Best Large Cruise Agency at the Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards, in 2020 we won Top Partner for Cunard and Holland America, in 2020 we also won Best Online Travel Agency at the TTG Top 50 Awards, in 2019 we won CLIA Online Cruise Agent of the Year, Carnival UK Retail Partner of the Year, Princess Cruises Retailer of the Year, took Best Non-Retail Agent at the Wave Awards and also won Best Online Sales (UK) from Costa Cruises. During 2018 we won the Top Cruise, Ocean and River Agency at the TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies 2018 and also won Best Newcomer for the Eurozone 2018 with Royal Caribbean. Back in 2017 we were also recognised in The Leap 100 Fastest Growing Companies 2017.
