I joined as a brand-new role in sales. For me the best thing about working at Iglu Cruise is the amazing colleagues I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years. For anyone looking to join us in the Sales department the advice I’d give is be patient as it takes a few months to settle in if you’re coming from another travel agent role.

I was initially attracted to join Iglu due to the opportunity to work for a market-leading travel ecommerce site. I knew that the complexity of selling cruise products online would allow me to challenge myself. My top achievements working here so far have to be increasing the online booking share, improving the overall usability of the websites and getting promoted to Head of Product. The best things about life at Iglu are the friendly and helpful colleagues, flexible working, the ability to balance your career and personal life, and the collaboration with peers across departments. For any new starters joining us in future my tip is to research the differences between more traditional holiday types and cruise holidays - customers are looking for a very different experience when cruising and knowing these factors will help when getting started at Iglu.

I joined Iglu after a recommendation by a friend. Compared to some people I’ve only been here a short time but felt right at home straight away. As a father of a young family, for me the work/life balance here is super important - as are my amazing friends I call colleagues! So far, I’m most proud of my work on the user experience improvements we’ve made to the website so customers can book their holidays more easily.

I joined as a brand-new role in the Commercial department after I saw the job opening online. I love travelling so thought it'd be interesting to work in the industry - it is! I get a lot of satisfaction in my role working with IT to add better functionalities to our systems, making it easier and quicker to use and automating certain processes to reduce manual work. I love the flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home (even before Covid) working at Iglu. As a tip to new crew members don't be afraid to ask questions! We might all learn something new.

I joined Iglu as it had a great reputation within the travel industry and came highly recommended because of its atmosphere and opportunities for career growth. My main achievement so far would be the promotion from Product Executive to Senior Product Executive - a good example of the opportunities offered here. The best part about working for Iglu is definitely the colleagues and atmosphere, both inside and outside of the office. Whether it's just your own team or company wide, everyone is always extremely helpful and supportive. During and since the pandemic the company has done its best to be as flexible as possible which has certainly helped take a lot of stress out of the last couple of years. They also do a great job of creating social events throughout the year which everyone looks forward to!

I was attracted to work Iglu as I was a very avid skier before moving to the UK and was able to bring my knowledge of North American ski resorts to the role. The company is incredibly supportive of career progression and I’m very proud to have been promoted and managed both in the Sales and Customer Care teams among my many roles throughout my time here - which gives me a unique view on our customer journey and agent experiences. When it comes to the day to day here Iglu is an excellent work environment with fantastic colleagues and work/life balance. Settle in and have fun - this is an amazing place to work.

Over my years at Iglu my best achievement so far has been my promotion to Concierge Team Leader after a short time in the team and short secondment as a senior. It's a really lovely team and working in the office (pre Covid!) there is always a great atmosphere and relationships between colleagues. Since becoming a mum I have got a great work/life balance and really enjoy my job, knowing I have support from my team around me. I have also been very fortunate to visit many different ships and go on some amazing fam trips during my 9 years here. To any new starters I’d say always ask for help if you need it, take all the opportunities offered and be prepared for the parties!

After starting in the Customer Care team with Iglu and Planet Cruise a new position became available. I fancied a different challenge after working in Customer Care and have worked in travel for a long time, but always in sales previously. I didn't want to leave the industry, but wanted to have a go at working in Customer Care. Cruising is a big passion of mine, and Iglu offered the remote working that I love too. There have been a number of things I’m really proud of during my time here, from being awarded for excellent service when I was in Customer Care to being offered a couple of Educational trips as a thank you for good work. But the best thing about my job is receiving amazing feedback, when the customer is happy with the service that they have received and the people I work with - even though I am a homeworker! The team and support is fantastic. There have been fantastic opportunities, and as a mum of two, Iglu have always been so understanding when it comes to trying to achieve the work-life balance. If you are home-based like me, make sure you take a proper break and get some fresh air if you can! Make sure the kettle isn't too far away and that you have a little treat box in your desk! Oh and "work pyjamas" are definitely the way forward!
