This is an exciting opportunity to join the cruise commercial team. Iglu is the UK’s market leader in cruise holidays, trading under the Iglu and Planet Cruise brands and selling the widest range of cruise line and tailor made cruise holidays in the market. This is an opportunity to join the fast paced Cruise Commercial team, with responsibility for driving the commercial performance of cruise line products. Commercial managers are responsible for ensuring that customers find the most relevant holidays, at the best value, and with the best proposition. This is a critical role in ensuring that Iglu continues its fast paced growth in the UK market across its entire product range.


  • Delivering the budget for passengers and gross margin for specific cruise lines, and helping the overall department to meet its commercial targets
  • Working and negotiating with cruise line partners to get the best prices and most exclusive deals, and in conjunction with Iglu’s Global Supply Team, the best rates and commissions
  • Managing day-to-day trading relationships with cruise line suppliers to get detailed understanding of trading performance and agree specific actions to meet customer demand and supplier requirements
  • Analysing trading data to develop insights into trading performance and executing changes to pricing, proposition and website merchandising to drive change, working closely with suppliers and colleagues
  • Analysing the market and competitors to help formulate pricing and trading strategies, including checking competitor pricing, offers and propositions and ensuring Iglu always has a competitive advantage
  • Working closely with the Commercial Product team to ensure cruise lines have the best pricing and proposition by destination across both retail and tailor made (our own packaged) products
  • Merchandising product in search results and on landing pages to maximise conversion rates including use of sort order algorithms, recommended cruises and landing page search criteria
  • Ensuring commercial website content is current and correct including availability and factual description of products, offers, inclusions and Ts&Cs; in particular ensuring Iglu is first to market with new products & offers
  • Working closely with technology teams to help drive the online availability and bookability of cruise product
  • Responsibility to support and help deliver on department and business Improvement projects
  • Management of a small team of people where appropriate


  • Strong demonstrable commercial awareness - cruise or travel industry experience desirable but not required
  • Tenacity to work in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment to deliver against commercial objectives
  • Confident and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally internally and externally, including supplier negotiation
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as work independently and manage work of others
  • Self-motivated with a positive outlook with an enthusiastic can-do approach to work
  • Effective organisation and time management skills
